Our Arts Store is the perfect place to showcase and sell your original creations.

Lighthouse Arts is located under the shadow of Nobbys’ Lighthouse on Nobbys-Whibayganba Headland. The Headland affords 360-degree views of Newcastle city and surrounds and is one of the region’s premier tourism hotspots. Over 1,000 people visit the Headland on any given weekend, and this can exceed 2,000 during the holiday season.

Our customers are visitors from across Australia and around the world who are wanting to take a special piece of Newcastle home with them, as well as art enthusiasts and locals (and visitors alike) with deep connections to Newcastle’s landscapes and culture.

What are we looking for?

  • Small, portable artisan gifts and artworks
  • Tourism memorabilia and giftware with a focus on the Lighthouse, Newcastle, and the Hunter region
  • Recently published books (within the last two years) by Hunter Writers’ Centre members

Who do we stock?

  • Creatives from the Hunter region*
  • Lighthouse Arts residency alumni
  • Hunter Writers’ Centre members
  • Creatives with a special focus on Newcastle landmarks, landscapes, themes and culture

*Hunter region: City of Newcastle, City of Maitland, Port Stephens LGA, City of Cessnock, Singleton LGA, Muswellbrook Shire, Upper Hunter Shire, Dungog Shire, City of Lake Macquarie, MidCoast Council.

The application process

All stock within the Arts Store is curated for high-quality, original items with customer appeal.

We invite you to submit an Expression of Interest Form with details about your creative practice and the items you would like to stock in our store.

We assess your items on the basis of:

  • Suitability for an isolated, coastal space:
    • size,
    • portability,
    • resistance to rust and corrosion.
  • Customer appeal
  • Price
  • Supplier eligibility

We prioritise:

  • Hunter-based creatives,
  • Lighthouse Arts alumni,
  • Hunter Writers’ Centre members,
  • and creatives with a focus on Newcastle and Hunter-focused themes.

Our commission rate is 30% (plus GST on commission) and our consignment period is six months.

You will be notified of your outcome by email. Successful applicants will then need to complete and return a Retail Consignment Agreement, which is supplied by email.

If successful, you will need to arrange, in consultation with us, for your items to be delivered to Lighthouse Arts. All items must be light and portable enough to carry up-hill.
