When you’re presented with a rare opportunity, listen to your instincts and act on them.
That’s exactly what I did with the opportunity to be an Artist-in-Residence at Nobbys-Whibayganba for 6 weeks.
Each week, as I walked the pier and up the hill with my trolley, I had a spring in my step, as it’s not every day you get to be an artist up at a lighthouse!
The site is not open to the public when you’re an AiR so it’s a very peaceful space to be in. From listening to the sea below, to the wind blowing, or sometimes howling, to watching the tugboats – which are so charismatic in character as they manoeuvre the impressive ships entering or departing Newcastle Harbour – you won’t be lost for inspiration.
I’m thrilled I had the opportunity to be part of this fantastic initiative of Lighthouse Arts. Highly recommended.
