After a traumatic time overseas I landed on my feet running – up the pier to the Lighthouse at Whibayganba at the end of Nobbys beach. It was a glorious retreat. After an eloquent greeting, we set to work. I was stitching and thinking. We had 5 days of glorious weather so I was able to sit outside and look out on passing ships and all the birdlife. We had a sea eagle visit!
It was a great opportunity to start on a new work, away from the chaos of my home studio. In these monk-like cells and glorious surrounds I had peace for contemplation and planning my work. The presence of other artists – though we didn’t get a lot of time to talk – was a good change too. I got a few ideas through our chats.
