What a privilege to be invited to spend one day a week in my own creative zone at the Lighthouse cottages on the Nobbys-Whibayganaba Headland!
For me, the weekly ritual of devoting a full day to my writing was a much-needed opportunity to ignite my focus. The residency held me to account in a way that working from home doesn’t and gave me the discipline to dedicate the day to the manuscript I’m working on. I also felt very supported and respected as a writer and was inspired to be surrounded by so many other creatives dedicated to their various practices.
I’m eager to maintain the same level of dedication to my work and rise above the distractions on the home front that all too easily provide excuses to procrastinate. My focus has returned and long may it last! Thank you Lighthouse Arts, City of Newcastle, and Port Authority NSW for supporting creatives and the Arts.
