Space to think and create.
When I started my residency at the lighthouse at Nobbys-Whibayganba I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do or create. But just being there, away from everything else that would usually distract me, allowed me to delve deeply into ideas. This is something I would never do at home. In the end, I came up with the beginnings of a body of photographs that I continue to work on still. The idea for this work would never have come to me, if I hadn’t taken the time to read, write and play.
Being in such a beautiful spot certainly helped with the creativity. I embraced the often unpredictable weather conditions, which inspired me further. Going to the lighthouse felt like a mini holiday to a place far far away from my usual daily tasks and chores. I cannot recommend the lighthouse arts residency enough!
