Celebrate 5 years of Lighthouse Arts
Lighthouse Arts invites our artist and writer alumni to take part in a summer exhibition on Whibayganba–Nobbys Headland.
Since opening our doors, more than 550 artists from across Australia and beyond have taken part in residencies at the Lighthouse — creating, experimenting, and responding to this remarkable place. This exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate those creative journeys and the diversity of practice that defines our community.
We welcome all forms of work — from polished pieces to rough studies, fragments, journals or experiments. Works in any medium are eligible, including writing, small works on paper, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.
We anticipate exhibiting around 40 works (depending on size and hanging requirements) and will curate an exhibition that reflects the richness and range of our alumni. Works may be made available for sale if you wish.
Share your story, your way — and help us celebrate five years of creativity at the Lighthouse.

About Lighthouse Arts
Lighthouse Arts is an initiative of the Hunter Writers’ Centre created to support and promote a healthy, vibrant and diverse creative arts culture in the Hunter region. It offers various programs and spaces for artists and writers to develop their craft, including artist and writer residencies, an exhibition space, and an arts trading store.
This initiative was made possible through funding from City of Newcastle Industry Response Taskforce and with support of the Port Authority of NSW. It serves as both a response to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and a long-term effort to strengthen the arts culture in the Hunter region. The Hunter Writers’ Centre is supported by Create NSW
